Award ceremony and numerous film highlights today

07. October 2017

Today is the day of reckoning for the juries of all three competition categories: the winning films will be announced and the Golden Eyes handed out during the Award Night at Zurich Opera House. All members of the juries, the filmmakers and numerous additional guests will tread the Green Carpet, which has been transferred for this evening’s event to the front of the opera house. The first guests will arrive at 18:30.

Away from the hustle and bustle at Sechseläutenplatz, today’s ZFF presents a packed film programme that also offers the opportunity to catch up on those previously missed movie marvels – many of which will screen in the presence of their respective filmmaker. Among them is Palme d’or-winner Ruben Östlund, who has travelled to Zurich today to present in person his furious satire THE SQUARE (17:30, Le Paris).

Peter Mackie-Burns has brought his character portrait and ZFF competition entry DAPHNE from London; and Columbian director Laura Mora will also present her competition entry, the fast-paced and unbelievably authentic thriller MATAR A JESUS (18:45, Filmpodium).

We also look forward to welcoming some great actors to the ZFF today, the list of which includes the inimitable Valeria Golino, who will present her most recent work IL COLORE NASCOSTO DELLE COSE (20:30, Le Paris) in Zurich, and one of Romanian New Wave’s most respected actors, Bogdan Dumitrache, who will be at the RiffRaff cinema to present his mind-boggling psychodrama POROROCA (18:00, Riffraff), which brought him the award for best leading actor at San Sebastian just days ago.

Good to know:
An overview of today’s films can be found on the ZFF homepage. The link to ticket sales and information about the attendance of filmmakers can be found on the respective film’s detail page. A short note about sold-out screenings:
Returned tickets go on sale approx. 15 minutes before the start of each film. They can be purchased online and at all ZFF points of sale.
