Cinematic pearls and Al Gore make for an inspirational finale

08. October 2017

What better day than the final day of the festival to once again pack full with films from this year’s multifaceted ZFF programme? There’s a chance to see most of the films screening in the three competition categories again today, including the documentary must-sees A RIVER BELOW (12:30, Arthouse Piccadilly), the Columbian entry shot in the Amazon region, and MOTHERLAND (14:30, Arthouse Piccadilly), the Philippine entry shot in the world’s largest maternity hospital.

Fiction film fans can look forward to the animalistic road movie POP AYE (13:00, Corso 2) from Thailand, the highly authentic emotional drama SCAFFOLDING (20.30, Riffraff 3) from Israel and the black comedy UNDER THE TREE (20:45, Piccadilly) from Iceland

The sporting theme at this year’s ZFF began with BORG/MCENROE on the first day of the festival and ends today with the premiere screening of BATTLE OF THE SEXES (18:15 & 20:00, Corso). Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ film focuses the life of tennis icon and women’s rights champion Billie Jean King and her so-called ‘battle of the sexes’ duel with Bobby Riggs.

We celebrate the grand finale together with Al Gore, who has travelled to Zurich for the premiere of AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL: TRUTH TO POWER (21:00, Corso 1). The film highlights the global efforts made in the last few years to tackle climate change, and warns of new and emerging dangers. In addition to giving an extensive talk about the film, Gore will also answer the questions of an interested audience in his ‘A Conversation with ...’ session at 18:15 at Filmpodium.

We hope you take away lots of great impressions and see stacks of powerful movies on this last day of the festival!
