    New Main and Co-Partner to join Zurich Film Festival

    The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) is looking forward to the addition of two tradition-steeped brands in 2016: the automobile manufacturers BMW will back the ZFF as its new Main Partner. The Swiss jeweller Bucherer will join the list of Co-Partners.

    ZFF 72 enters the next round

    The ZFF 72 film contest enters its third round: register now at to take part. Entrants are given 72 hours to create a film clip lasting no longer than 72 seconds. There are prizes totalling CHF 10’000 to be won. The award ceremony takes place during the 12th Zurich Film Festival.

    KÖPEK wins Swiss Film Award

    Director Esen Isik’s feature film debut KÖPEK won the Swiss Film Award. Set in Istanbul, the anthology film garnered the top Quartz for Best Fiction Film. The award was presented on Friday evening at Zurich’s Schiffbau venue. The sensitive drama was among the evening’s grand victors, celebrating a total of three wins.     Oscar-nominated journalist thriller SPOTLIGHT in cinemas

    Starring Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams and Michael Keaton, director Tom McCarthy's crime drama turns the spotlight on a team of courageous journalists. Screened as a Gala Premiere during the 11th ZFF, the film has received six Academy Award nominations including for Best Picture. The 2016 Academy Awards take place on February 28.

    Sponsorship Prize-winner EUROPE, SHE LOVES at Berlinale

    Zurich-born Jan Gassman’s film EUROPE, SHE LOVES opens the 66th Berlinale’s "Panorama Dokumente" section. The film project received the Association for Film Funding in Switzerland’s first ever CHF 25'000 prize in September 2015. The aim of the Association for Film Funding in Switzerland is to offer financial support to Switzerland’s film and media industry.

    Nominations for the Swiss Film Award 2016

    The nominations for the Swiss Film Award have been announced. The ZFF competition films AMATEUR TEENS, KÖPEK and NICHTS PASSIERT have joined the race in multiple categories, including best fiction film. The nominations for the Swiss Film Award 2016 were revealed yesterday during ‘Nominations Night’, a celebratory announcement event at the concert hall in Solothurn attracting 600 guests from the film industry.

    Max Ophüls Prize for EINER VON UNS

    Stephan Richter's Austrian drama EINER VON UNS screened in the "Focus: Switzerland, Germany, Austria" competition section during the 11th Zurich Film Festival.     Today the thriller DIE DUNKLE SEITE DES MONDES (ZFF 2015) and the comedy POSTHUMOUS (ZFF 2014) open in Swiss cinemas. DIE DUNKLE SEITE DES MONDES is the first released film adaption based on the book of the same name by swiss writer Martin Suter.

    The 88th Academy Awards nominations have been announced. Leading the race for the 2016 Oscars is THE REVENANT (12), followed by MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (10) and THE MARTIAN (7). Contrary to all expectations, Todd Haynes’ drama CAROL didn’t make it onto the best picture or best director list, but the film’s actresses, Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, did both receive a nod from the judges.
