This premiere is significant in many ways: it’s the first time a female Golden Eye winner has the chance to win the award a second time - something only two male directors have achieved at the ZFF so far. It’s also the first time Lisa Brühlmann steps not only behind the camera but in front of it as well - a unique experience she shares in an interview on the ZFF Green Carpet.
On Sunday evening, Lisa Brühlmann, accompanied by her crew, walked across Sechseläutenplatz on her way to the world premiere of her second feature film, WHEN WE WERE SISTERS. The film tells the story of 15-year-old Valeska, who goes on holiday to Crete with her mother, Monica (Lisa Brühlmann). Joining them are Monica's new boyfriend Jaques (Carlos Leal) and his daughter Lena, with whom Valeska initially has nothing in common. However, as the two girls start to bond, tensions rise among the adults.
Seven years after winning the Golden Eye for BLUE MY MIND, Lisa Brühlmann returns to the ZFF with a touching coming-of-age drama. With her participation in the Feature Film Competition, she now has the chance to win a second Golden Eye.
