Nowhere to Hide

Border Lines
Male nurse Nori Sharif has seen a lot of suffering at the hospital where he works in the Central Iraqi city of Jalawla. Nevertheless, the father of four still wears a reassuring smile on his face. He has used his camera to capture the changes to his immediate surroundings since US troops left in 2011. NOWHERE TO HIDE tells his story of hope and a new beginning and captures the growing fear as IS troops slowly encroach upon the city until he, as one of its last remaining inhabitants, is also forced to flee. First-hand we get to experience the impressive solidarity shown by the people of this disputed region, the daily chaos of a family and the fall of an entire country. Winning film in the main competition category at the IDFA.
