Wimbledon, 1980. Like fire and ice, two passionate athletes come face to face: on the one hand we find the ever-cool and prudent-looking Swede Björn Borg, who has dominated the tennis circuit with his strategic playing for years. On the other hand there is John McEnroe, a hot-headed eccentric newcomer from New York, who has taken the world ranking list by storm, while also conquering the hearts of his admirers. While the two all-too-different rivals face each other in a medially exaggerated tennis duel in the big Wimbledon final, the pair share a bond of much deeper significance... Seven years after ARMADILLO (Golden Eye, ZFF 2010), Janus Metz returns with an extraordinarily stylish biopic that highlights the rivalry, passionate diligence and inner demons of two great tennis stars.
