FOUR OSCARS FOR «ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT»

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT (IM WESTEN NICHTS NEUES) won four Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards, making it the big winner among the ZFF films. The awards including the Oscar for Best International Festure Film not only speak for the pacifist masterpiece, but are also of great significance for Switzerland: the film's director, Edward Berger, is a native of Switzerland and lived for several years in Zurich, where the literary adaptation celebrated its European premiere in 2022.

International Feature Film, Cinematography, Production Design and Original Score: ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT was awarded no less than four times by the Oscar Academy. We are delighted that one of the big winners of the evening celebrated its European premiere at last year's Zurich Film Festival and brought numerous guests to Zurich who were involved in the film project.

Among the guests was the main actor Felix Kammerer, who was in front of the camera for the first time as an actor in ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT and contributed significantly to the success of the film. Also Daniel Brühl and Edin Hasanović came to Zurich to present the film together with director Edward Berger. The director of the anti-war film, who was born Swiss in Wolfsburg and lived in Zurich himself for several years. The fact that a taste of Hollywood is wafting into Zurich with the four awards arouses even more anticipation in us for the next festival edition and all the potential Oscar candidates that fill the cinema halls year after year as part of the Zurich Film Festival.
