Stockholm, 1982. Bobo and her best friend Klara think their classmates’ dance show is simply awful. On the cusp of teendom, the two outsiders couldn’t care less that they have nothing in common with people their own age. They love punk rock and want to form a band – despite everybody else saying that punk is long dead. Their dream comes true when they meet the talented, classically trained guitarist Hedwig, who they transform into a punk in no time. From now on, the three are inseparable; they cut their hair short and roam the streets of Stockholm. Not only do they meet with a natural lack of understanding from their fellow pupils, the girls are also unrecognisable to their parents.
