by Paolo Taviani, Vittorio Taviani
The night of San Lorenzo is the night of shooting stars and, according to Italian popular belief, the night when dreams come true. Concetta recalls her experiences of the summer of 1944: Italian inhabitants fleeing their home village of San Miniato in Tuscany in order to race towards U.S. liberators. Ordered to seek shelter in the church, those left behind fall victim to a retaliatory attack by the Germans. The Italian movie classic LA NOTTE DI SAN LORENZO by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani tells with fairy-tale-like mythical elements of despair and hope during the Second World War. Even beyond the Piazza Grande in Locarno, the film met with great success. As part of this year's "Solidarité Festivals" campaign, this film will be presented in collaboration with Locarno Film Festival. The film will be presented by Marco Solari, President of the Locarno Film Festival.
