In Zurich, impresario Curtis and his troupe of stateless actors hope to get visas to travel to South America. But they need to prove that they are capable of high-level productions. Curtis is able to persuade the star Anina Wiedt to participate, but after a disastrous premiere in Chur, he leaves. Anina takes over the indebted troupe; which also involves trying to keep the grumpy debt collector Knüsli on their side. In collaboration with SRF, Cinémathèque suisse, Memoriav and Praesens-Film, the ZFF shows the restored version of a Swiss cinema classic based on one of the most successful Swiss stage plays at the time.
