Beth Emhoff is on business in the Far East. She returns home unaware that she’s been infected with an extremely aggressive virus. When the symptoms begin to show, it’s already too late. While Beth’s husband tries to deal with the sudden death of his wife, an international team of doctors is faced with a problem: the highly contagious virus is spreading like wildfire and claiming lives around the globe. A wave of panic breaks out, which moves quicker than the pathogen itself – and is much more dangerous. Social structures begin to collapse and chaos threatens to take over.
