Time and again, Antonio LeBlanc has to explain where he comes from. Born in Korea, he was adopted by American parents as a small child. Despite a difficult childhood, the USA is his home. In the southern state of Louisiana, Antonio has built a simple but happy life with his wife Kathy and stepdaughter Jessie, and makes ends meet for him and his family as a tattoo artist or doing odd jobs. When one day there is an altercation with a hostile policeman at the supermarket, Antonio is arrested and suddenly faces being deported. A big shock - but according to the law, Antonio is not considered a U.S. citizen and his criminal record is not entirely clean either. Director and leading actor Justin Chon shines alongside Alicia Vikander in a stirring drama with melodramatic overtones.
