ANORA star Mikey Madison as guest at the ZFF

According to the first online reviews, director Sean Baker has outdone himself and delivered the best film of his career with ANORA. The ZFF programming team was also immediately fascinated by the modern story, which captivates you and at first glance feels somewhat reminiscent of PRETTY WOMAN: the son of a Russian billionaire falls in love with a young prostitute from Brooklyn. During a spontaneous trip to Las Vegas, the two get married. When his parents find out, they send henchmen to have the marriage annulled. ANORA is a fulminant, action-packed and romantic comedy about class differences by ZFF-Darling Sean Baker (THE FLORIDA PROJECT). It is an absolute crowd-pleaser with satirical edge and hilarious moments that guarantee big laughs. Therefore, it is no wonder that the film won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.

The film’s female lead is played by Mikey Madison, who has been one of Hollywood’s most sought-after rising stars since her role in the comedy series BETTER THINGS. Welcoming her on the green carpet at the 20th ZFF was therefore a true highlight. ANORA will be released in Swiss cinemas at the end of October and has us looking forward to further film projects with Madison.
