by Olivier Assayas
Cuba, early 1990s: following the collapse of the Soviet Union, René and his wife Olga are aware of the way in which their country is caught up in a crippling economic and political crisis. Operating their terrorist attacks from Miami, many anti-Castro groups are turning to the execution of violence. In order to deal with these attacks, the Cuban government employs its so-called Wasp Network. Pilot René is forced to hide the fact that he is a member of this inconspicuous spy ring from his wife and daughter. In order to infiltrate Fidel Castro’s enemies, he must leave Cuba, disguise himself as a dissident and build a new life in Miami. ZFF honorary award-winner Olivier Assayas’ elegant and intricate espionage thriller stands as a monument to unsung Cuban heroes.
