With a smoky baritone voice, former western icon Lee Hayden utters a superficial ad slogan into a microphone. When he is not playing the odd role in commercials, the greying, former action hero spends his days smoking marijuana together with former co-star, friend and dealer, Jeremy. When suddenly he is diagnosed cancer, Lee realises that things need to change. He decides to accept an invitation to be presented with a lifetime achievement award, tries to get in touch with his estranged daughter while becoming more and more distracted by Charlotte, a pretty woman half his age… With sultry, tranquil imagery and heart-warming humour, director Brett Haley takes us on a journey through an aged cowboy’s Los Angeles.
