Three young people become acquainted during a trip to the Chinese city of Yanji. As all three share living life with tough strokes of fate, an intimate familiarity develops between the trio within a very short space of time and the set off together into the frigid landscape. Filmmaker Anthony Chen from Singapore has spent time researching what it means to be young in China today. His film is a declaration of love to Generation Z in the Middle Kingdom, who want more out of life than just working and submitting to authority. The wintry backdrop furnishes this atmospherically dense, heart-warming feature film with a markedly melancholic mood.
