by Ali Asgari, Alireza Khatami
A father is harassed for wanting to give his newborn son a non-Islamic name. A woman is accused of not wearing her hijab while driving. A filmmaker has to completely rewrite his script because it does not comply with censorship regulations. Based on a total of nine stories, the episodic drama TERRESTRIAL VERSES exposes the everyday state oppression of the Iranian population. Against the backdrop of the current protest movement, Alireza Khatami and Ali Asgari tell of the deprivation of freedom and the abuses in Iran – disturbing and critical with a uniquely fictional documentary character.
