Ruth and Alex are forced to sell their beloved apartment in Brooklyn. The difficult decision to sell comes precisely at a time marked by several unpleasant events: The illness of their dog results in a vet bill to the tune of $10,000. Real estate brokers and bargain hunters bring unwanted hassle. And a beached oil transporter puts the whole of New York on terror alert.
