by Luca Guadagnino
In the 1950s, wealthy American Lee (Daniel Craig) fled from New Orleans to Mexico City after a drug bust, where he frequents the queer scene and consumes drugs with impunity. At a cockfight, he falls in love with ex-soldier Eugene (Drew Starkey), who devotes himself to him in exchange for financial favors. Together they set off for South America in search of the hallucinogenic plant Yage. Luca Guadagnino has congenially adapted the cult novel of the same name by William S. Bourrough. Daniel Craig gives one of the best performances of his career.
