Telephones ring constantly at ‘Maquinaria Panamericana’, while nobody could care less. Rather than an ordinary office, this is a place to gossip, exchange pictures of cats or take a nap. To hell with productivity and efficiency – as long as the salaries are delivered at the end of the month, who should even care? Until one day the good-natured patron Don Alejandro dies and along with him the illusion of a carefree life disappears – which the employees of this unique engineering factory refuse to accept. Dodging reality they hide behind closed doors – which ends in total and utter anarchy. MAQUINARIA PANAMERICANA is a masterfully executed satirical take on a (Mexican) society, who averts the gaze towards reality for as long as possible.
