A man, a woman, a baby. A truck driver’s cab, engine noise, a motorway – these banal elements are the ingredients for an extraordinary road movie. Trucker Rubén loads a shipment of acacia tree trunks ready for the journey to Buenos Aires. His boss also gives him a second assignment: to take Jacinta, the sister of his cleaner, to the Argentine capital where she wants to begin a new life. When Jacinta turns up at the agreed meeting place carrying a baby daughter, Rubén is not happy – he loves the peaceful solitude of being behind the wheel and begins making plans to get rid of her. The 1500 km trip, however, raises feelings in him that he has buried away for years. LAS ACACIAS is a gentle, precisely-staged depiction of the coming together of two complete strangers.
