Under no circumstances should Bruno and Malik be taking care of 40 autistic children, and even less should they take them ice-skating, according to French law. The relevant institutions, though, are reluctant to accept these “particularly complex” underprivileged children. Good-hearted Bruno and his dedicated friend Malik withstand this injustice. However, without official certification and the authorities against them, their care centres are threatened with closure. With extraordinary amateur actors and a lot of heart and humour, INTOUCHABLES directors Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano address a truly tragic problem ingrained in the French social system.
