If it is not fanatical devil worshippers leading the “Satanic Temple”, then who exactly are the figures behind the cult? For more than six years, the religious movement of the Satanists has been on the rise, tenaciously trying to teach Americans the oft-quoted but inadequately lived separation of church and state. These Satanists are modern, open-minded, tolerant – and banging big drums in the US political arena. They are committed to rights and values that are often trampled on, usually in the name of religion. Director Penny Lane has set out to explore this amazingly interesting movement with a devilish sense of humour, and created a film in which every bias is burnt to frazzles.
