Who will get out of here alive? The setting is the cursed last year of high school for Bobby, Adam and Caroline. Not much is going on in this frighteningly idyllic place somewhere in the countryside of the USA. There is at least a bit of local baseball patriotism, which, because of Adam’s father – the team’s tyrannical trainer – only serves as an outlet for pent-up emotions. While Adam harbours hopes of dating Caroline, Bobby begins an affair with Adam’s mother. All of them are searching for recognition and love, but the build-up of dangerous tensions begins to affect life both on and off the pitch. The directorial debut of visual artist and filmmaker Grear Patterson balances perfectly contagious lightness with oppressive heaviness in this story about growing up in the American outback.
