Over the course of several years, this unique diary-style documentary unfolded with the suspense of a thriller, casting a unique light on Japan's patriarchal society and its treatment of women. A MeToo case that has caused a sensation in Japan and inspired courage in women who share the same fate. Shiori Itō

Shiori Ito is a Japanese journalist, author and filmmaker. She studied in New York, where she obtained a degree in photography and journalism. BLACK BOX DIARIES had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It was nominated at numerous film festivals and received multiple awards.
