Every year, the mountain town of Davos becomes the centre of the capitalist Western world for a few days when heads of state, economic experts and scientists gather at the World Economic Forum. The local life of Davosians and their daily challenges sit in stark contrast to the affairs of the global elite. Negotiations taking place at the WEF have no bearing on the realities of, for example, a farming family, a bar owner or Portuguese guest workers. The filmmakers captured everyday life in Davos over a period of one year to reveal a profound view of a town in the shadow of the WEF. DAVOS is a film about contrasts, about capitalism in a fragmented world, and about how a handful of powerful white men decide the future of many.
