A small-town beauty meets an attractive stranger and both fall head over heels in love. The two soon start to enthusiastically shape their common future. Five years and one child later, there is nothing much left of their initial passion. Their marriage has hit crisis point and they both know that their relationship has come to an end. Dean has hardly changed since the two got married and he stoically attempts to maintain the status quo, holding up the façade of a happy couple. Cindy, however, has moved on. She feels as though she has been separated from Dean for years, yet something is stopping her from going her own way. They both reminisce over the good old times and remember romantic moments from their courtship – hope is the last thing to die.
