Australia’s outback in the near future: Eric is a grim, lonely drifter. Following a global economic collapse, he roams this desert region, scarred by poverty and criminal intention, in his last possession, a Rover. While dining at a run-down restaurant, a gang of criminals turns up and promptly takes off in his Rover. Eric’s only aim now is to get back his car – at any cost. Together with the badly wounded Rey, who was left behind by the thieves after their failed robbery attempt, Eric embarks on a chase through the endless steppes. David Michôd directs a modern western in a post-apocalyptic setting. Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson make the perfect duo: Although the two protagonists are unable to form any real kind of friendship, they do find a way to connect with each other.
