"I will not be silent!" says Marguerite de Thibouville in 14th century France. The wife of the knight Jean de Carrouges publicly accuses his best friend and nobleman Jacques Le Gris of rape. The complaint reaches the ears of King Charles VI, who wants the dispute settled by a duel – God will punish the true liar with death. Both men agree, but if Carrouges loses and his wife is thus proven a liar, she will be burned alive. Based on historical events and the novel by Eric Jager, cult director Ridley Scott stages this duel for power as a gritty and highly suspenseful drama. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck not only feature as actors, but also as screenwriters. Adam Driver and Jodie Comer round off the star-studded cast.
