The Assistant

Making coffee, coordinating meetings, leading young women to the executive office. Jane is the new assistant to a powerful film producer. She is hard-working, discreet and doesn’t ask questions. In the mornings, she cleans the sofa in the boss’s office and picks up the lost jewelry. She hardly ever gets to see her boss, but the fear of him is omnipresent throughout the company. Her male colleagues are happy to drop the boss’s delicate matters at Jane’s door – nobody wants to be in his line of fire. But remaining silent about the daily grievances she observes becomes tortuous for the diligent assistant. Without ever mentioning names, THE ASSISTANT, based on the experiences of former Harvey Weinstein employees, illustrates how the systematic abuse of power works.
