Hope and fear live hand in hand in the forests of the Gurugu Mountains in Northern Morocco, where there is a clear view of the Spanish enclave Melilla. Images taken by a hidden surveillance camera, belonging to the Spanish border police, show a group of people trying to scale a high-security boundary fence in vain. The fence separates the African continent from Europe. Like many others, Malian citizen Abou has lived in the clandestine camp for over a year, ceaselessly attempting to jump the fence. One day, he is being equipped with a camera. As he portrays the struggle for human dignity on one of the World's most militarized frontiers, LES SAUTEURS ultimately becomes a movie about the empowerment of a man armed only with his camera and his aspirations.
