Aris, a lonely middle-aged man, is one of many victims of a mysterious pandemic that causes sudden amnesia in those who fall ill. With no knowledge of who he is or where he comes from, Aris is selected for a newly developed treatment designed to help those affected to create a new identity. Via a tape recorder, he is given banal daily tasks to perform such as cycling, cinema visits and nights on the town. Aris must document everything he does with a camera, thereby creating new memories. In the process, he meets the strange Anna, who, also suffering from memory loss, goes through the same programme. Aris soon begins to have doubts: Do new memories really create a new identity? And what is left of his old identity? With poetic imagery and quiet humour, director Christos Nikou’s feature film debut takes us on a surreal journey into the depths of human consciousness.
