„Still no arrests?“ Mildred Hayes’ patience is wearing thin. Seven months after her daughter was murdered, the police are nowhere near finding the perpetrator. The headstrong outsider therefore decides to hire three huge billboards to publically shame police chief William Willoughby into finally doing something. Willoughby, an extremely well-liked man who takes great pride in his work, reacts to the provocation in a completely unexpected way. But the resentment caused by this campaign, first in the police station, and then across the whole of town, leads to a vicious cycle of violence and exclusion that will change this place forever… Director Martin McDonagh’s third feature film places Academy Award-winner Frances McDormand at the centre of a desperate battle for justice.
