by Daphne Matziaraki, Peter Murimi
The consequences of drought in Laikipia, as in the rest of Kenya, are leading to more and more nomadic tribes being forced to leave their habitat and move to the well-watered farms of the whites who have lived on that land since colonial times. These conflicts intensify. The film, with its thriller-esque setup, presents the perspectives of both parties and provides an interesting historical and political background about an African country that is struggling to deal with the legacy of British colonialism and climate change. 'With the intensity of a thriller and the depth of a political essay, this documentary sheds light on the dramatic struggles for land and resources on the Laikipia Plateau, where climate change is threatening livelihoods.' – Daniela Engler
