by Ruben Östlund
A group of youths rob another youth – but without the aid of violence. The five teenagers instead employ some clever role-playing. Their “little brother” number works using inner (racist) clichés. When the father of a victim catches one of the perpetrators, things take a surprising turn. Ruben Östlund reconstructs a possible course of events using police records. With long shots, he is able to confront the viewer of this serious “game” with the same prejudices driving the protagonists – both perpetrators and victims – and therefore circumvent the audience’s expectations. The film has attracted the attention of both the Swedish press and numerous festivals.
