Marwencol

Marwencol is the name of the fantasy world created by Mark Hogancamp. After recovering a year previously from a brain-damaging coma following a brutal attack by a group of yobs, Mark began obsessively building a 1/6th scale Second World War era town in his backyard. He populated the town with dolls representing his friends and family and documented the many relationships and events in the form of mini dramas. Playing in the town and photographing the action and happenings helped Mark recover his hand-eye coordination and deal with the psychic wounds left behind by the attack. This homemade therapy helped mark make the long journey back into the “real world”.
