With her documentary LAS TORERAS, Jackie Brutsche tries to uncover the dark secrets of her family's past and to answer the unanswered questions about her mother. To do this, she conducted detailed and emotional interviews with her family members in Zurich and Spain. Using old texts and drawings by her mother, she also gains a deeper insight into her mother's emotional world. The film owes its unique narrative style to moving scenes in which Jackie takes on the role of a bullfighter, trying to recreate her mother's tragic life story.
Jackie Brutsche
Zurich-born Jackie Brutsche is a multidisciplinary artist. After first studying fashion design, she went on to complete a course in directing and screenwriting at Zurich University of the Arts. She works as a filmmaker, composer, visual artist, performer, writer and musician.
