The con-artist duo Theresa and Robert trained their only daughter, Old Dolio, to become a thoroughbred crook. Never missing an opportunity to swindle, the members of this well-rehearsed team attempt with almost exuberant pride to master their lives beyond the boundaries of social norms. Nothing really ever knocks the eccentric family off track – until the charming Melanie enters their lives with a somewhat hasty plan that turns Old Dolio's formerly coherent existence completely on its head. Confronted with the hair-raising question of a normal family, the lively exploration of a new freedom begins. Filmmaker and multimedia artist Miranda July takes us on an emotional and wonderfully absurd journey of discovery through an unlived childhood.
