In competition 1945. Finally, there is peace in Europe. In Switzerland too, a whole generation breathes a sigh of relief as it faces a new and hopeful future. Klara and Johann want to marry. He has big plans for his father-in-law’s textile factory, while she looks after Jewish boys at a refugee camp and helps with the search for surviving family members. Meanwhile, Johann’s brother Egon is trying to settle into his own new normality after having experienced the horrors of war up close on the border. Peacetime, although long awaited and promising, also holds unforeseen challenges. A spirit of optimism is mixed with uncertainty and the question of how to deal with the past.
