“A film about a man who tried to make a film about me” is how Banksy, the infamous British graffiti artist, describes his first feature, a film that should actually place him at its centre. Banksy, whose work is characterised by a combination of political commentary and a quirky sense of humour, has always given the camera a wide berth – he must if he is to remain unidentified and thus avoid prosecution. With exclusive footage of Banksy, this semi-documentary deals with the eccentric French shopkeeper and amateur filmmaker Thierry Guetta’s failed attempts at capturing the infamous British graffiti artist on film, and shows how Banksy turned the tables on Guetta, turning his attempts at pinning him down and becoming his friend into a film.
