Staff shortages, resource constraints and overwork characterise the French healthcare system. Nevertheless, psychiatrist Dr. Jamal Abdel-Kader pushes himself to the limit day after day in his quest to help patients at the clinic in a suburb of Paris where he works. ÉTAT LIMITE accompanies Jamal up-close and documents his touching and understanding approach, which he maintains despite an exhausting daily routine. The documentary offers candid insights into the therapies of mentally ill people. Through narratives of the staff sharing their inner conflicts and concerns, director Nicolas Peduzzi draws attention to the acute problems of the healthcare system. Nicolas Peduzzi studied theatre and film in Italy. After completing his studies, he moved to the US and shot several short films. His feature debut SOUTHERN BELLE was shown at numerous film festivals and awarded the FID Marseille Grand Prix. Peduzzi's second film GHOST SONG emerged as the winner at Seville Film Festival.
