by Embeth Davidtz
Based on Alexandra Fuller's memoir of the same name, this film lets us experience the change of power in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) through the eyes of an eight-year-old child. Bobo grows up on a big farm with her white family and black domestic workers. As the vote about the country’s independence approaches, panic and uncertainty spread in her family, especially as black people suddenly reclaim their land. A vigorously staged drama about a decisive turning point in history. 'Through the innocent eyes of a child we are immersed in the life of white farmers, get confronted with racism and see the end of an era. This is what you want a book adaptations to be like - an emotional journey into Zimbabwe's past with unforgettable images.' – Anja Fröhner
