by Ali Asgari
A cold winters night in present-day Teheran. After a few wonderful but careless hours together, 19-year-old Sara and her boyfriend, Hamed, have a problem. Only a few hours remain to ‘undo’ what they’ve done. The two travel from one hospital to another but without a marriage certificate or proof of permission from their parents, their request is refused at each and every one of them. As the two make up ever-more intricate stories to get what they want, their mutual trust begins to fade. Ali Asgari’s elegant feature debut follows the naïve young couple through hospital corridors and deserted nocturnal streets. The film highlights the problems of a new, western orientated generation that wrestles with a society built on tradition and religious belief.
