by Corneliu Porumboiu
Absurdity, who discovered it? Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu! Adrian wants to borrow 800 Euros from his neighbour Costi, but he doesn’t have the money to spare. Next day, Adrian finally admits that he wants to buy a metal detector and use it to find a hidden family treasure that was buried decades before. He proposes that they split the proceeds fifty-fifty if Costi agrees to help. Thus begins the most bizarre treasure hunt that has ever been seen on the big screen. COMOARA is as absurd as it is innovative, a cross between a political parable and a modern-day fairytale. With his fourth feature film, Porumboiu reinforces his status as one of the leading directors of Romanian New Wave.
