Kosovo, early 1990s on a cold winter’s day. The heating in Fadili’s apartment is out and his old car has frozen again. There has been widespread concern throughout Pristina since the Yugoslav government no longer recognises the autonomy status of the region, and begins recruiting young men into the military. In spite of these circumstances, the Albanian archivist who is employed in civil service, has kept his optimism and cares lovingly for his wife, his two children and his sick father. When one day a Serb replaces his boss and Fadili’s Albanian colleagues quit their jobs as an act of protest, he is faced with an impossible decision. With a strong cast and an authentic 1990s look, director Ismet Sijarina tells of the impossible dilemma faced by a man who wants to protect his family at all costs, but does not want to betray his friends and his political convictions.
