The energetic 12-year-old Binti dreams of becoming an Internet star with her videos. After all, she already has 1000 followers. But there is a problem: she and her father are living illegally in Belgium. When the police show up at their lodgings, the two are forced to flee abruptly. In the middle of the forest, Binti discovers a secret tree house and meets Elias, who is feverishly searching for new members for his club to save the Okapis. The two become close friends, and while shooting animal protection videos together, the smart Binti secretly forges a plan to keep herself and her father in Belgium. With its groovy soundtrack and great empathy, BINTI introduces the subject of illegal immigration in an entertaining but non-trivializing manner. Recommended for age 8 or older
