Kids Think Tank

The ZFF Kids Think Tank is a professional event focused on raising awareness and fostering connections within the children’s film sector. Together with the Zürcher Filmstiftung, we aim to create a platform that highlights and better integrates children’s films within the Swiss film industry.
In 2025, the event will focus on young on-screen talent and the casting process. Through a series of 40-minute case studies, panels, and discussions, industry professionals will share their experiences and inspire new ideas for future projects.

2025 Program

12:45 – 13:00: Doors open

13:00 – 13:40: Case Study – Casting for Children’s Film

This case study offers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the casting process for the children’s film PLITSCHPLATSCH FOREVER. Together with director Natascha Beller, producer Sarah Born, and casting director Nora Leibundgut from Glaus & Gut, the entire casting journey will be explored — from preparation and selection to the unique challenges of working with young talent. The session also features exclusive photos and video footage from the casting and set. The panel is moderated by Elisabeth Wenk.

14:00 – 14:40: Panel – Filming Across Borders? Challenges and Opportunities When Working with Children in DACH Co-Productions

Curated by KIDS Regio, this session focuses on the legal, organizational, and practical conditions for filming with children in the German-speaking region. At its core is the children’s film DAS GEHEIME STOCKWERK, which was shot in Germany and Austria and is part of this year’s ZFF program. Notably, it was the first Austrian production to be made under the newly developed industry guideline for filming with children.

The session begins with a practical talk by producer André Fetzer from Amour Fou, who shares his experiences on set, the implementation of the guideline, and differences compared to productions in Germany.

Following this, Elisabeth Wenk, Managing Director of the German Children’s Media Foundation Goldener Spatz, leads a moderated discussion with Sarah Born (PLITSCHPLATSCH FOREVER), André Fetzer (DAS GEHEIME STOCKWERK), and Markus Welter (MEIN FREUND BARRY). Together, they explore how national regulations affect international co-productions, what production companies need to consider during planning, and which rules prove helpful or challenging in practice.

15:00 – 15:40: Panel – Young Actors and Actresses

In this panel, young actors Annina Walt and Dimitri Stapfer share personal insights from their career journeys, discuss challenges, and compare their different paths. The conversation is moderated by Elisabeth Wenk.

16:00 – 18:00: Aperitif

Afterwards, attendees are invited to connect and unwind in a relaxed atmosphere over drinks.
