A White, White Day / Hvítur, Hvítur Dagur
Just like a veil, dense fog hangs over a wet coastal road in Iceland. A car slips out of the curve and crashes down the slope into the depths of the sea. Ever since Ingimundur lost his wife, there is little which brightens his mind. Only his granddaughter knows how to elicit a smile from the loner. What is left of his energy, the retired police officer puts into the renovation of his house, where he leads a secluded life. When a box with his late wife’s remaining possessions appears, Ingimundur is plagued by doubt. How well did he really know her? Was she hiding something from him? Caught between anger and grief, he begins to get to the bottom of his growing mistrust, and what started as a suspicion soon becomes an unpredictable obsession. Set against the backdrop of the spectacularly sublime Icelandic coastal landscape, A WHITE, WHITE DAY is an intense drama that reflects the emotional storms of the grieving protagonist in the magnificent images of the landscape.
