North Korea: a country whose population lives with zero points of contact to the outside world and surveillance and daily propaganda are part of everyday life. ‬‬‬‬ The documentary accompanies at close quarters several citizens as they flee this dictatorship. Among them is a family that is supported in their perilous escape by the South Korean pastor Sengeun Kim, who turned this form of assistance into his life's work. The documentary also highlights the gripping story of a mother who lives separated from her son in South Korea and is informed only sporadically and through unreliable sources about her son's escape. BEYOND UTOPIA provides exclusive insights behind the sealed-off borders of North Korea.‬
