ZFF for Schools offers an exciting cinematic programme that promotes an understanding of the language of cinema. During the festival, screenings of carefully curated films from around the world take place, flanked by a variety of educational opportunities and conversations with cast & crew. Before and after the festival, intensive offers are available to teachers and classes, providing insights into film analysis and thus making a valuable contribution to film education.

Also this year, teachers in the Zurich area have the opportunity to present the latest film gems from around the world to their school class. Ticket booking is only possible on the German-language site.
For Young Students: Eyes Open for Cinema!
Film experts visit a school class for two lessons. On the basis of powerful film scenes, young students are given an insight into how cinematic language works and how to analyse films. Afterwards, a member of the ZFF team presents the programme of the festival, which takes place from September 28 to October 8, 2023, and gives tips on which films would be particularly suitable for viewing analysing.
Students in groups of 2 to 3 visit two film screenings from the ZFF programme which they have selected themselves before receiving an observation task that has been prepared and explained together with the ZFF.
The schools decide whether the ZFF team visits the school again to follow-up the observation task, or whether the teacher discusses the results of the observation task alone with the students. The price is adjusted accordingly.
The ZFF's offer for schools includes two lessons. The price is CHF 600.- (without follow-up of the observation task) or CHF 750.– (including follow-up à 2 lessons).
Students must be at least 16 years of age. Only films that screen before 18:00 on weekdays and are not Gala Premieres are eligible for viewing at the movie theatre (otherwise the additional costs must be covered by the school).
